Welcome to the Lewis Library

The George and Leona Lewis Library provides the resources, technology, instruction, and personal service that support the information needs of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences learning community.

Library News & Tips

The Library will be closed from Saturday, June 27th - Sunday, July 5th in observance of the College holiday.
Finding your article:

1) Be sure to access PubMed through this link or the Quick Links menu. This will allow you to see what articles are available full text through the Library’s print and e-journal collection. If you see a gold box that says “Local Print Collection” in the article record, that means the article is available on our shelves. An ACPHS logo is a link to the full text.

2) In PubMed you can identify primary research in a number of ways. You can perform your search, then confirm that the article you choose is primary research. To do this, change the search results view from AbstractPlus to Citation. This is done at the drop-down menu near the upper left of your screen. Once you are in an article record, scroll down to look at the publication types after the abstract. If it says “Clinical Trial” or “Randomized Controlled Trial” you know you can use it.

You can also limit to clinical trials or RCTs before you even begin your search. Run your search, then click on the Limits tab located on the far left. You will see many qualifications to choose from. Scroll down to the end for “Type of Article." Set your limits and click "Go."

Making your presentation run smoothly:

4) Instructions for setting up the PowerPoint extended desktop are located here. This will allow your audience to see only the presentation while your laptop screen will show both the presentation and your speaking notes.

5) Stop by the Circulation Desk to check out a laser pointer to use in your presentation. The check-out period is 24 hours.

As always, let us know if you need any assistance along the way.

Good luck on your Seminar!
